Chillin' Out in July & Doin' the Charleston is Patriotic Y'All!

As it turns out, Chillin' is a Patriotic state of mind....

As July heats up, there’s two things that are vital to helping us all keep chill here in the Lowcountry…a well serviced Air Conditioner... and (drum roll, please…)

Yup, you guessed it…. some delicious cold ice cream…After all, July is National Ice Cream Month!

Since 1984, when President Ronald Reagan proclaimed July as National Ice Cream month, Americans across the country have been called upon to do the patriotic thing and " observe these events with appropriate ceremonies and activities.".....and that means it's time to eat ice cream!

What's more, the third Sunday of July is National Ice Cream Day......so this upcoming Sunday head out and have a sundae.... it's the American thing to do!

(By the way, did you know that ice cream sundaes first started appearing in soda fountain shops during the 19th century? Here’s how this "holy-moly" sinfully delicious treat got its name….

Ice cream sundaes were “invented” in the 1880s because back then, ice cream sodas weren’t allowed to be sold on Sundays….('cuz hot fudge is sinful y'all).... Thus, the sundae was a way to circumvent that restriction….

Celebrate this "cool" American tradition right here in Charleston….Stop by Jeni’s on King Street for their amazing concoction called "The Charleston Sundae”

Jeni's on King is famous for "The Charleston" Sundae. It's a lovely concoction of Sweet Cream ice cream, Salty Caramel Sauce, Blackstrap Molasses, Virginia Peanuts....oh my!

Or stop by our favorite ice cream haunt.... Ben And Jerry’s 96 N Market St.... and have a cold, bold, caramel swirled fudge covered waffle cone… It’s a favorite of Charleston’s home-boy Stephen Colbert…he gives a thumbs up to this treat known as the “ Americone Dream.”

Where ever you decide to do the patriotic thing on national ice cream day, be sure to enjoy a scoop or two….Service First Heating and AC Repair will be out there along with you…(Nope...not in an icecream truck...but definitely in the truck you'll want to see in front of your home if your A.C. conks out in the sweltering month of July.....)

Until next week, we'll be keepin’ it cool in the Lowcountry, one A.C. at a time .....
